Although no one likes lots of rain at Wimbledon, I was rather disappointed at the fact that the new Centre court roof played only a very small part in the tournament last summer. Although it is a long way away from the next tournament, I do find myself wishing that we will see more roof this coming summer. We know that it always rains traditionally in the two weeks of this famous tennis tournament but it just seemed to break these rules last year when they finally had a solution to the dreaded rain delays.
It would be great to go there with centre Court tickets and rather than having to disappear off back to the hotel in your hire car, when it started raining, you can keep your seat safe in the knowledge that the match will continue and you will stay dry. Of course if you have tickets for a smaller court or just a ground pass then you will not be so lucky but at least some people will still be there to eat up the strawberries and cream and drink the champagne!
It is also better for the television coverage as there will only be one match to watch. Rather than flicking between up to five matches that are being televised simultaneously, you can settle down and just watch one match, knowing that you are not missing anything better on the other side. Time to start doing a rain dance!
