When you are visiting Wimbledon, whether it’s a relaxing break with friends or family, a business trip, or to see the world famous tennis tournament, a car is essential for getting around. There are some fantastic green spaces around Wimbledon and whilst you are there it would be a shame not to see them – this is where a car comes into its own; they are spaced just large enough apart so that you can’t quite get to them via public transport! In south Wimbledon, Kendalls Car is an excellent choice for car hire. This is a family run company, independent since 1969, yet it can still provide rates as cheap as any other multinational car hire company. You also get the satisfaction of helping out a local business too. A 3-door vehicle from them, such as a Ford Fiesta, currently costs around £128 per week and deals are often available to help you pick up a bargain rental for the week.

If you’ve got a particular company in mind that you always use however, or just to prefer to use a bigger company with a stronger support network, you can choose Enterprise Rent-A-Car. This is slightly more north of Wimbledon than Kendalls, but it is possible to have them deliver your rented car to you in the south if necessary. If luxury is your thing though there is a multitude of executive car hire companies and limousine hire companies in the area to arrive to that big match in style.

Morrison’s Wimbledon Car Park

Supermarkets are a relatively new creation and one that has led to the demise of the traditional village shop. Whereas in the past, people would go to the butcher for the meat, the baker for the bread and the candlestick maker for, well, candles, they just pop on down to the local supermarket where they can get all these things in one place. This massive rise in the popularity of supermarkets has occurred because of their convenience; why visit 3 shops when you can get the same products from just one? Supermarkets don’t have nationwide appeal and there are areas where certain supermarkets, such as Morrison’s, just aren’t found – the south of England is one such place that favours Waitrose over Morrison’s. However, this is not the case in Wimbledon where the local Morrison’s supermarket is flourishing with hundreds of people coming daily to stock up on the essentials.

Because so many people use the supermarket, the car park is usually full to bursting. It is difficult to find spaces at peak shopping times but with a bit of patience, it can be done! The car park is free for all people who are shopping at the supermarket and you receive a card upon entry that has to be verified at the checkout (failure to do so will incur a small fee dependent upon the length of stay). However, it is the most important part of the supermarket; imagine the struggle if you had to carry all your shopping home with you!
